After a bout of insomnia and ill health I became fixated on the workings of my body, hidden under my skin and constantly working. It made me feel frightened and squeamish to think about but I wanted to come to terms with associating the concept of human anatomy with my own body. I wanted to imagine pulling away my own skin and seeing what was underneath. I used destroyed, scratched instant film with paper, sewing, cutting and re-sticking in order to make it a very physical process. I didn't want to use digital layers but physical layers that I could touch and put together and scratch away.
